They often emanate from Africa and involve a transfer of funds in excess of the asking price, with the balance being paid, by you, through Western Union.

Ask yourself the question, 'If I were buying a car, would I offer to part with more than the asking price, for a car, possibly of some years, sight unseen?' Then expect the purchaser to refund the balance?

In short, if the offer seems too good, it most certainly is. Ignore it and find a local buyer.

If you do proceed with a transaction similar to the above, do understand that even if your bank says that the funds have cleared and you spend the money, if it subsequently proves to be a fraud, your bank can recover the funds from your account without even telling you!
